Harling takes ‘Honeymoon’

Scribe to adapt Jenkins novel

Columbia Pictures has signed Robert Harling to adapt “Honeymoon,” the Amy Jenkins novel to be published by Little, Brown in England later this year.

Produced by Laurence Mark and Jonathan King, the film will concern a new bride on her honeymoon in New York who is in the suite next door to her first love. That he’s also on his honeymoon doesn’t stop them from rekindling old sparks and running off together to Mexico, only to rediscover the reasons they didn’t stay together in the first place.

The CAA-repped Harling’s credits include the screen adaptation of his play “Steel Magnolias,” “Soapdish” and his adaptation of the Olivia Goldsmith novel “The First Wives Club.” Pic is being shepherded by Col exec Ricky Strauss
