Good Machine Intl. has teamed with “The English Patient” producer Saul Zaentz to handle international sales on “The Seven Deadly Sins.” Stanley Donen will direct the film, which will be produced by the Saul Zaentz Co.
Marshall Brickman (“Manhattan”) is currently rewriting the script, which was originally penned by “Patient” director Anthony Minghella. The Jim Henson Co. will serve as co-producer.
“Sins” concerns a decent man who’s faced with losing his children and his wife to her lover. He attempts suicide and is visited by the Seven Deadly Sins, which try to lure him into living life by their specifications.
GMI president David Linde will be responsible for a number of international territories on the project, with the others represented by Zaentz. Linde will introduce “Sins” at the upcoming Cannes market.
“We’re looking forward to working with two people whom we simply love and have the utmost appreciation and trust for,” said Linde. “How often do you have the chance to do that?”
Linde and Zaentz first worked together on ” Patient,” which Linde then represented as exec veepee at Miramax Intl.
