Francis, Evans get Parks nods

Helming, screenwriting kudos handed out at the indie pic awards

At the fourth annual Gordon Parks Independent Film Awards, held Monday night at the DGA Theater in Gotham, Paul Francis received the directing award for his work-in-progress “Malfunction” and Rodney Evans took the screenwriting award for his script “Brother to Brother.”

Parks was on hand to present.

Awards were followed by the premiere of the HBO documentary “Half Past Autumn: The Life and Works of Gordon Parks,” a portrait of the legendary photographer and filmmaker scheduled to debut on HBO Nov. 30, in commemoration of his 80th birthday.
