In an uncommon ShoWest plan, Fox will screen the ensemble drama “Where the Heart Is” in its entirety at the Las Vegas confab on March 8, the studio announced Monday.
Two evening screenings are scheduled at the Paris Opera House in the Paris Hotel, said ShoWest general chairman Milton I. Moritz.
Tom Sherak, chairman of Fox’s domestic film group, said the studio’s goal is to “heighten the awareness of something we are extremely proud of.”
Fox plans a wide release April 28.
Pic is directed by Matt Williams from a script by Lowell Ganz and Babaloo Mandel. It stars Natalie Portman, Ashley Judd, Stockard Channing, Joan Cusack and Sally Field.
“Heart” follows the journey of a pregnant 17-year-old girl stranded by her boyfriend at a rural Oklahoma Wal-Mart.
After creating a secret “home” in a corner of the store, the jobless and broke girl eventually begins a new life for herself and her child. The people of the nearby town become the loving family she never had.
The film is based on the novel by Billie Letts. The producer is Susan Cartsonis.
