Five U.S. pix to bow in Palm Beach

Fest launches Feb. 4-13 with over 50 films from 22 countries

MIAMI — The fifth annual Palm Beach Intl. Film Festival, showcasing 50-plus films from 22 countries, will be held Feb. 4-13.

The fest features world premieres of five U.S. pix: Hamlet Sarkissian’s “Camera Obscura,” Grant Mitchell’s “The Pavilion,” Stanley Jacobs’ “Pitch People,” Del Shores’ “Sordid Lives” and J. Michael Hagopian’s “Voices from the Lake.”

Fest will also showcase two docus and three foreign pix that are vying for Oscar noms, including Cannes Palme d’Or winner “Rosetta.”

Actors Tommy Lee Jones and Anouk Aimee and helmer William Friedkin will receive lifetime achievement awards at a Feb. 6 gala.
