Five semifinalists have been named in the Oscar category of achievement in makeup, with the quintet now eligible for the category that features a maximum of three slots.
The five are New Line’s “Austin Powers 2: The Spy Who Shagged Me” and “Blast from the Past,” Disney’s “Bicentennial Man,” Universal’s “Life” and USA Films’ “Topsy-Turvy.”
The makeup award nominating committee will screen 10-minute clips of each pic on Feb. 12. Panel members may nominate up to three pics for the Oscar, recommend a single film for a Special Achievement Award, or recommend that no award be given in the category.
All Oscar nominations will be announced on Feb. 15. The Oscar ceremony will be held March 26.
