Digital filmmakers will arm themselves with cameras and the latest in technology for the Wild West Digital Shootout, a competition in which filmmakers will cast, shoot and edit short films over the span of the Digital Filmmaking Festival. Fest takes place July 14-22 in Albuquerque, N.M.
The 10 new filmmakers, who were selected from more than 300 submissions, will be given professional mentors to work with them on their productions. Helmers Anthony Drazen (“Hurlyburly”), Gregory Widen (“The Prophecy”) and Pierre DeLespinois (“The Secret Adventures of Jules Verne”) have signed on.
The fest will have a 24-hour digital cafe, featuring shorts, interactive games and hands-on demonstrations of equipment.
Coordinators of the event include writer-director Steve Anderson (“South Central”), playwright Jim Grabner (“Baseball Wives”) and Dennis Gromelski of Zygote Pro-Creations.
