BERLIN — The 50th edition of the Berlin Intl. Film Festival will host a salute to the career of Robert De Niro.
A special screening of “The Deer Hunter” will show Feb. 17, 21 years after its controversial screening at the festival that saw protests from Eastern Bloc countries.
“We are screening ‘The Deer Hunter’ as one of the anniversary events because of the major role it played in the history of the festival,” said fest topper Moritz de Hadeln.
Among the 12 De Niro pictures selected are “Mean Streets,” “Taxi Driver,” “New York, New York” and “Casino.”
