Thesp to star with Witherspoon; Blair in talks
Matthew Davis (“Tigerland,” “Urban Legend: Final Cut”) is in final talks to star opposite Reese Witherspoon (“Cruel Intentions”) in MGM’s “Legally Blonde.”
Also in talks for roles in the pic, which concerns a popular natural blonde whose empty-headed good looks work against her social-climbing ambitions, are Osgood Perkins (“Six Degrees of Separation”) and Selma Blair (“Cruel Intentions”).
Davis, who’s also cast in Jerry Bruckheimer’s WWII actioner “Pearl Harbor,” will portray the comically waspish Warner Huntington III in “Legally Blonde.”
Robert Luketic (“Titsiana Booberini”) will helm the pic for producers Marc Platt (“Josie and the Pussycats”) and Ric Kidney (“Mercury Rising”).
Karen Lutz and Kirsten Smith penned the screenplay based on a novel by Amanda Brown. Lutz and Smith’s last project was “Ten Things I Hate About You,” a modern film adaptation of Shakespeare’s “Taming of the Shrew.”
