The Second Annual Chinese Film Festival will kick off Sept. 25 with an unspooling of Zhang Jianya’s “Crash Landing,” and an opening night gala reception honoring the People’s Republic of China at L.A.’s Lloyd E. Rigley Theater at the Egyptian.
Sponsored by the Motion Picture Association, the fest — which runs through Oct. 7 with stints in L.A., San Francisco and Gotham — will showcase the latest in culturally significant Chinese pics.
“China’s filmmakers are second to none in celebrating the human spirit, with a passion for storytelling,” said MPA chairman and CEO Jack Valenti said. “We are honored to be able to introduce China’s artistic achievements to a global audience as we continue to strengthen the friendship between the U.S. and Chinese film communities.”
Titles to be screened include “Breaking the Silence,” “Team Spirit,” “Dragon Boat Rhapsody,” “The Last Hunters,” “Lotus Lantern” and “1919.”
Screenings will take place at L.A’s Egyptian; the 4 Star Movie Theaters in San Francisco; and the French Institute-Alliance Francaise in Gotham.
Tickets are free. For information on screening dates and other event details, call (888) 906-3456.
