Columbia Pictures is in final talks to save “Saving Silverman” from turnaround.
Previously set up at Warner Bros., pic was put into turnaround and will now be produced by Sony-based producer Neal Mortiz’s Original Prods. and by Village Roadshow.
It’s an understandable move given that pic has helmer Dennis Dugan attached (Daily Variety, Dec. 6). Dugan scored for Sony last year with his $167 million Adam Sandler laffer “Big Daddy.”
Penned by Greg DePaul and Hank Nelken, “Silverman” script centers on two buddies’ last-ditch efforts to stop a friend from marrying the wrong woman.
Dugan is repped by UTA; Nelken and DePaul are repped at the Jon Klane Agency.
