MADRID — The Catalonia Intl. Film Festival in Sitges will launch Mediamed, its first mini co-production market, Oct. 7-8.
Market will specialize in TV fiction, features and docus. Some 50 film distribs and TV acquisition execs will attend, many making a short hop from Cannes TV market Mipcom.
Co-financed by E.U. Media initiative the marketplace, Mediamed will allow buyers to hear pitches and see films from producers based in E.U. or Mediterranean countries.
Running Oct. 5-14, the Catalonia Intl. Film Festival features a competitive section for fantasy pics and a Wide Angle selection for all types of films.
Highlights should include the world preems of Brian Yuzna’s “Faust,” the first film from Filmax’s Fantastic Factory, and another English-lingo production from Spain, the Ibarretxe brothers’ “Sabotage!,” a farcical version of the Battle of Waterloo, starring Stephen Fry.
