Castle Hill Prods. has picked up worldwide distribution rights to tyro filmmaker Jonathan M. Flicker’s fraternity hazing drama “Followers.”
Pic, which screened last month at the American Film Market, stars Tony-nommed Sam Trammell (“Autumn in New York”) as a college student forced to choose between his fraternity and his friendship with another student who’s excluded because he’s black.
Flicker penned the script and co-produced with Dennis Gossett Jr. of Wildgoose Prods.
“Followers” is set for September openings in New York, L.A. and other key markets following a college touring run designed to capitalize on the film’s subject matter. Producers have also set up a Web site asking for real-life hazing horror stories in hopes of fostering a cult interest.
Deal was negotiated by Castle Hill marketing and distribution prexy Mel Maron and producer’s rep Harris Tulchin.
