Iosseliani to head group

PARIS — Georgian filmmaker Otar Iosseliani will head the jury awarding the Camera d’Or at the Cannes Film Festival in May, fest organizers confirmed Tuesday.

Iosseliani was the 1999 winner of the Prix Louis-Delluc, bestowed upon a French film by French critics, for his pic “Adieu plancher des vaches.”

The Camera d’Or goes to the best first film in the Official Selection at Cannes or one of the sidebars. Previous winners include Jim Jarmusch’s 1984 “Stranger Than Paradise” and Tranh Anh Hung’s 1993 offering “The Scent of Green Papaya.”
