NEW YORK — Oscar nominee Michael Caine is signed to co-star with Sandra Bullock in “Miss Congeniality,” the Castle Rock comedy for which director Donald Petrie has just been set to replace Hugh Wilson, who recently ankled the pic (Daily Variety, Feb. 24).
Warner Bros. will distribute the film, which stars Bullock as an FBI agent who goes undercover at a beauty pageant. Caine’s character shows her and other contestants how to look, walk, etc. Caine, who received an Oscar nom as best supporting actor for “The Cider House Rules,” just completed “Quills,” a Phil Kaufman-directed pic co-starring Geoffrey Rush and Kate Winslet. He is currently in London shooting “Shiner,” an indie film directed by John Irvin.
Caine is repped by ICM’s Toni Howard. Bullock’s Fortis Films is producing the project.
