Aussie actor Simon Baker (“Ride With the Devil”) is in final negotiations to star as the love interest of Oscar-winner Hilary Swank in the Alcon Entertainment period drama “The Affair of the Necklace.”
Set in pre-revolutionary France, “Necklace” centers on a young aristocratic woman left penniless by political unrest. She must avenge her family’s fall from grace by scheming to steal a priceless necklace.
Charles Shyer directs. John Sweet wrote the script, which is being produced by Alcon’s Andrew Kosove and Broderick Johnson. Shyer and Redmond Morris are also producing. Nancy Meyers is executive producer, and Kira Davis is co-producing.
Warner Bros. Pictures will release the pic domestically. Shooting begins next month in Prague.
“Necklace” reunites Baker with Adrien Brody, with whom he co-starred in “Restaurant.”
Baker made his big screen debut in “L.A. Confidential.” He will next be seen in Warner Bros. Pictures release “Red Planet,” starring opposite Val Kilmer, and Fox 2000’s “Sunset Strip.” He’s repped by the William Morris Agency.
