Chloe Sevigny is in negotiations to star in Jon Avnet’s “Uprising,” a pic the helmer is developing and hopes to put into production in Poland and other Eastern European locations by year’s end.
Pic will be produced by Avnet and Raffaella De Laurentiis, with production designer Dick Sylbert already on board. Script was penned by Paul Brickman with revisions by Avnet.
“Uprising” centers the events leading up to and during the Warsaw Ghetto uprising in 1943.
Sevigny, since her Oscar-nominated co-starring turn in “Boys Don’t Cry,” has fielded a slew of offers, is also in talks to direct a section of Cary Woods’ omnibus production, “Jokes,” another part of which is being helmed by Gus Van Sant.
Avnet’s helming credits include “Fried Green Tomatoes,” “Red Corner” and “Up Close and Personal.” He recently produced “Things You Can Tell Just by Looking at Her.”
Alongside producing partner Jordan Kerner and via their Avnet/Kerner shingle, Avnet has been a producer or exec producer on films such as “Inspector Gadget” and “George of the Jungle.”
Sevigny is repped by the William Morris Agency and manager Danny Sussman at Basic Entertainment. Avnet is repped by CAA.
