Helmer to develop live-action, tool projects

Animation helmer Piet Kroon (“Osmosis Jones”) has inked with AMG Animation, the toon division of the Artists Management Group.

AMG will assist Kroon in developing live-action and animation projects for the bigscreen and other entertainment forums.

“Piet Kroon is a phenomenal talent in the animation field,” said AMG’s Ellen Goldsmith-Vein. “He has the ability to create and craft compelling animated stories with a great sense of humor and entertainment, and a highly original sense of visual style.”

Kroon began his career with Steven Spielberg’s “An American Tail II: Feivel Goes West.” He also has served as a storyboard artist for Warner Bros. Feature Animation, working on “Quest for Camelot” and the “Iron Giant.”

In addition, Kroon recently penned an adaptation of Dickens’ “A Christmas Carol” for Illuminated Film Co. Pic, in production, features the vocal talents of Nicolas Cage and Kate Winslet.

His latest directorial effort, “Osmosis Jones,” is slated to bow in spring. Film, which combines animation with live-action footage, features the voices of Chris Rock, Laurence Fishburne, Brandy and David Hyde Pierce. Kroon will co-direct all animated scenes, while Peter and Bobby Farrelly will helm the live action.
