Alcon Entertainment has acquired the screenplay for the live-action/CG-animated family comedy “Little Eddie Post,” written by David Schmidt.
“Prince of Egypt” helmer Frederik Du Chau is attached to direct the film, which will be produced by Penney Finkelman Cox and Sandra Rabins’ Patchwork Prods. (“Prince of Egypt,” “Antz”) in association with Alcove co-presidents Andrew A. Kosgrove and Broderick Johnson.
“Little Eddie Post” is an orphaned racehorse who is befriended by a young girl who dreams of becoming a professional jockey. With the help of friends, the pair overcomes their obstacles and achieves their dreams together.
Alcon VP of development Steven Wegner brought the project into the company and will serve as the film’s executive producer in addition to receiving credit as the project’s co-creator. The film will be distributed through Alcon’s distribution deal with Warner Bros.
Negotiating the deal for Alcon was attorney Scott Edel of Kleinberg, Lopez, Lange, Brisbin & Cuddy. Schmidt was repped by attorney Jeffrey Joyner of Keats, McFarland & Wilson. Patchwork was represented by AMG and attorney Harley Williams of Blanc, Williams, Johnston & Kronstadt. Du Chau was handled by AMG and by Maggie Rodford.
