MUMBAI — The Indian sub-continent will soon have its first Imax theater — in Mumbai, the region’s top cinema city.
Adlabs, India’s leading film processing laboratory, and Imax Canada unveiled an agreement Thursday.
“I would have opened 10 years ago if land had been available, permissions had been easier and costs less prohibitive,” said Manmohan Shetty, head of Adlabs.
Built for $9 million, the Imax Adalbs Theater will have the world’s largest Imax dome and seat 520.
The theater will open with “Planet Blue,” followed by “Everest” and “T-Rex: Back to the Cretaceous.” Each will be subtitled in an Indian language.
