Wolpert washes his hands of Scour.com

Cyberbiz Brief

Some of those associated with Scour.com are distancing themselves from the search engine that locates audio and video files online, after the MPAA, RIAA and NMPA announced a lawsuit against the Beverly Hills-based company last week.

CheckOut.com CEO Richard Wolpert, who became an investor with Ovitz in Scour last year, stressed Friday that he resigned from the dot-com’s board in January but that he continues to sit on the boards of CheckOut, GameSpy Industries, Broadcast Vision and Encode This. Michael Ovitz also said he is not a board member.

“This announcement is to clear up any misconceptions about my involvement in Scour.com,” Wolpert said in a statement. “I am not a member of the board and have not been for quite some time.”
