Vivendi, Ticketmaster eye Europe

Paris-based Vivendi, online ticket broker 'in conversations'

Ticketmaster Online-CitySearch is in talks with Universal Studios’ wannabe owner, Vivendi, about ways of cooperating in Europe to mutual benefit, Ticketmaster Online chairman Charles Conn said Wednesday.

Vivendi’s current businesses include European Internet portal Vizzavi. Ticketmaster is interested in working with Vivendi’s Internet businesses to boost sales in Europe, Conn said.

Paris-based Vivendi wants to acquire U parent Seagram for $40 billion in stock and assumed debt. Meanwhile, Seagram holds a large minority stake in Ticketmaster parent USA Networks.

“We’re very excited about Vivendi’s agreement with Seagram,” Conn said in an interview at an investor conference in San Francisco. “Right now, we’re in conversations with them.”
