Vet Paramount exec Gino Campagnola has been promoted to the newly created post of exec VP of electronic cinema.
Campagnola, who served since 1992 as exec VP and general sales manager, will oversee Par’s digital film distribution efforts. He’ll work with fellow distrib execs, exhibitors and developers and makers of digital projection gear. He’ll report to Par distrib prexy Wayne Lewellen.
“We’re entering a whole new era in the film industry, and it’s good to know that Gino will be our point person,” Lewellen said.
Campagnola will mark 50 years at Par in 2001. He started in Par’s Gotham mailroom and went on to hold positions in the contracts and sales departments, eventually serving as prexy of Paramount Canada, since renamed Viacom Enterprises.
“Electronic cinema is inevitable,” Campagnola said. “It is our responsibility to see that the transition is carefully and effectively realized without lessening the quality of presentation now being delivered by film projection.”
