Yahoo!’s recent licensing deal with the Recording Industry Association of American (RIAA) will allow the portal to Netcast music from the organization’s member labels. It will also help Yahoo! Avoid the kind of troubles that have plagued other digital music sites (read: Napster).

Since October, 1998, Yahoo! Has been granted a statutory license (a permanent agreement) to deliver music under the terms of the federal Digital Milennium Copyright Act.
