Canuck crooner gets attention of MP3.com prexy
Netizens who watch “Survivor” thought they had it all figured out. From insight gleaned from spoiler Web sites and message boards, it seemed evident that Gervase would wind up being the winner.
But when Gervase got the boot last week, the surprise moved one Netizen to record “Gervase, My Man” and upload it to MP3.com. Created by a Canadian singer who identifies himself as “Thirty-Nine Days,” he admits the song is “low-quality … kind of like one guy who sings into a microphone,” on his Web site. Even so, it got the attention of MP3.com chairman and CEO Michael Robertson.
“What the song may lack in slick production values, it certainly makes up for in passion, humorous spirit and sincerity,” Robertson said.
An example of the lyrics: “Kelly, you make me so sad/You broke the alliance you had/I thought it was Sean for sure/or someone else/but not Gervase.” Thirty-Nine Days promises more Survivor-themed songs are on the way if he gets enough fan response.
