TOKYO — Sony Computer Entertainment will set up Internet marketing sites for its PlayStation videogame consoles, with the Japanese site starting Feb. 1.
The site, PlayStation.com Japan, will be launched prior to the March 4 introduction in the country of the next-generation, 128-bit game unit PlayStation 2.
The site will start sales in mid-February. PlayStation and PlayStation 2 consoles and related materials such as games will be available on the site.
Initial capital will be 480 million yen ($4.6 million). In the near future, Sony Computer Entertainment, a division of Sony Corp., will set up similar sites in North America and Europe.
