ReplayTV Inc. will introduce an extension of its digital video recording service this fall, allowing subscribers to use the Internet to set their machine at home to record programs.
The feature to be announced today by the Mountain View company called MyReplayTV will also allow users to search for specific programs and showtimes while on the road or from the office just as they would using the machine at home.
The feature will be launched as a component of a ReplayTV service software update later this year that will be made available to existing users for free through an automatic software download.
The http://www.myreplaytv.com Web site will offer TV news and customizable online areas for gathering all information plus merchandise offers related to a particular show or category of programming such as sports.
The price of ReplayTV machines start at $399 with a $100 rebate offer. More expensive machines can store up to 30 hours of programming.
