Company vends talent software: lists 28,000 actors
OnLine Film Services, the Canadian-based Internet company behind online casting site CastingWorkbook.com, announced Friday it is opening offices in Los Angeles and expanding into offline software.“The convergence of the entertainment industry and Internet communications is revolutionizing the way the film, television and the production community does business,” said OnLine prexy Aerock Fox. “We are providing something that soon no one in that area of the industry will be able to do without.” OnLine Film Services invested $3 million in the development of OnTrack Casting and OnTrack Agency, desktop software packages for the talent industry. OnTrack Casting allows casting directors to schedule and manage casting sessions, while OnTrack Agency provides a way to track clients. OnLine was founded in 1995. Company claims CastingWorkbook lists 28,000 registered actors, putting it in competition with casting sites like Iam.com, TalentClick.com, CastNet and ExtraCast.com. “With our inhouse programming team and experienced management, we hit the ground running years ago and are setting the pace for the competition,” said Susan Fox, veepee of marketing. “In fact, what sets us apart most is that we have the best customer service available to our users.” Fox, who was behind the development of production company Video One Canada, has assisted in the creation of other Web sites in the OnLine family, including TheTalentScout.net, TheModelScout.com and ProductionWorkbook.com.
