Go.com rolls exec veep and G.M. into one
Go.com has tapped Rajiv Samant exec veep and general manager of the Mouse House’s portal.
In his new post, Samant will oversee daily management of the site, which is in the midst of a major redesign to focus more on lifestyle and entertainment. Relaunch is skedded before the end of the summer.
He will also head up Go’s affiliation with Disney’s other Web sites, including ABC.com, Disney.com, DisneyStore.com, ESPN.com and Mr. Showbiz.
Based in Sunnyvale, Calif., Samant will report to Go.com chairman Steve Bornstein and prexy Steve Wadsworth.
“Rajiv has established a strong track record delivering successful products to market,” Bornstein said. “That background combined with his excellent technical and management skills make him the ideal executive to help lead our portal business into its next major phase, which is to be the leader in entertainment, recreation and lifestyle on the Web.”
Samant was general manager of IBM’s Unix operating systems brand group, overseeing all operational functions, including product development. Before IBM, Samant worked for McKinsey & Co.
