Mouse buys 500 graphics workstations from SGI

SGI has sold 500 graphics workstations to Walt Disney Feature Animation. Deal includes the purchase an unspecified number of SGI’s Octane and yet to be released Octane 2 machines. Equipment will be used for 3-D modeling, painting and animation on upcoming pics. Terms of the deal were not disclosed. Disney has used SGI computers to create f/x for “Mission to Mars,” “Gone in Sixty Seconds,” “Dinosaur” and “102 Dalmatians.”
