Microsoft pacts with EA for Xbox games

Microsoft and vidgame developer Electronic Arts have inked a multi-year deal in which EA will produce 10 games for the software giant’s Xbox console, which is scheduled to bow next fall. Microsoft has secured more than 200 game companies to develop and publish content for its Xbox. Additionally, more than 18 developers have committed to making exclusive Xbox titles to be published under the Microsoft label. As one of the top vidgame developers, EA’s games could significantly increase the potential popularity of the Xbox., which will be competing against Sony’s recently released PlayStation 2. Games will be made available to audiences within six months of Xbox’s launch. EA titles include the franchises John Madden Football and Sim City.
