Alex Maghen has been tapped chief technology officer of the MTVi Group, overseeing development, production and research of the company’s popular lineup of music Web sites for MTV, VH1 and SonicNet.com, among others.
Maghen will focus on building a core technology team for MTV.com, VH1.com and SonicNet as well as other online acquisitions and steer New York-based MTVi’s content to wireless devices.
“Alex is a terrific example of a great technologist that understands the importance of the consumer experience,” said Nicholas Butterworth, MTVi Group prexy-CEO. “It is through his leadership that we are building a universal music platform that will continue to transform how consumers receive music, whether through the PC, TV or hand-held devices.”
Maghen has been VP, online and interactive technology, MTV Networks; veep, production and technology, Nickelodeon Online; and director of content software development for AT&T’s interactive TV projects.
