Loughlin moves up at Primedia to exec VP

Duties include o'see Web properties

Primedia magazine and Internet group prexy-CEO John Loughlin has been named exec VP at Primedia Inc., publisher of Seventeen, New York magazine and Modern Bride.

As head of the mag and online group, Loughlin oversees north of 100 Primedia print and Web properties. Before moving to Primedia, Loughlin worked at Meredith Corp.’s broadcast group, Meredith’s magazine group, the New York Times Co. and AT&T Corp.

“John is a tremendous leader whose unique combination of management experience in both the print and electronic media world is driving and enhancing Primedia’s vast consumer magazine operations, while also leveraging the transition of our consumer properties into an array of new media businesses,” said Primedia chair-CEO Tom Rogers.

Trio of upgrades

Also announced Tuesday was the election of three other Primedia execs to corporate officer posts, including Primedia broadband video unit prexy and CEO Jim Ritts, Primedia consumer guides group prexy and CEO Robert Metz and VP of investor relations Warren Bimblick.

Ritts, who is also CEO and prexy of Channel One Network, previously held positions at Digital Entertainment Network, the Ladies Professional Golf Assn. and ad firm Dancer Fitzgerald Sample. Metz joined Primedia from Sportdiver Magazine, where he was VP. Bimblick was VP of corporate communications for Trinova Corp. prior to joining Primedia in 1997.
