BERLIN — German film powerhouse Kinowelt Medien plunged into cyberbiz Friday with the acquisition of a 36% stake in Teutonic online entertainment and financial information service e.multi Digitale Dienste.
Company says the move is the first step in a drive to use the Internet to extract more profit from its massive content library.
E.multi, which specializes in online games, ticket services and information on entertainment, sports and the financial markets, is Bourse-bound in late May. Kinowelt is listed on Frankfurt’s Neuer Markt for smaller companies.
Kinowelt said it has also purchased one of the world’s largest showbiz database sites, http://www.movieline.com, which it will expand and co-market with e.multi.
