Prexy/G.M. 'did not want to pass up the opportunity' to work with startup
Ray Heacox, prexy/general manager of NBC-owned Los Angeles TV station KNBC, is ankling his post and leaving L.A. to become prexy of start-up company Media Ocean Inc.
Heacox will remain with KNBC during the next several weeks as NBC’s TV station division searches for his replacement.
Heacox will be based in Gotham for Media Ocean, a business-to-business tech company that specializes in providing tools for e-commerce, particularly for the advertising industry.
“It was a hard decision to make,” Heacox said. “But I did not want to pass up the opportunity to work with a startup that has such a high probability for success.”
Heacox was appointed prexy/GM of KNBC in March 1999 in a sort of homecoming after serving for three years in Gotham as exec VP of sales for NBC Stations.
Prior to his work in Gotham, he had been VP of sales for KNBC from 1992 to ’96. He was manager of local sales from 1991 to ’92.
