HBO promos ‘Oz’ return with Web prequels

Cyberbiz Brief

Using the Web to hype Wednesday’s return of its prison drama “Oz,” cabler HBO will bow three exclusive two-minute original Webisodes of the series on each day July 10-12.

The prequels are produced by “Oz” exec producer and creator Tom Fontana, and introduce a new character, Mobay (played by Lance Reddick “Great Expectations,” “I Dreamed of Africa”), a New York cop who goes undercover at the Oswald State Correctional Facility as part of a sting.

Mobay’s background as revealed in the Webisodes, including his preparations to become a prison insider and his set up in a drug bust, will not be shown on TV. The Webisodes were scripted by Sunil Naya and Bradford Winters and helmed by Alex Zakrzewski.
