Mark Handler has been tapped executive veep, international, for Disney Internet arm Go.com.
In his new post, Handler will manage Go’s strategic expansion into Asia Pacific, Europe and Latin America.
More specifically, he will oversee more than 20 localized versions of Disney.com, as well as ESPN.com and SoccerNet, one of Europe’s most popular soccer sites.
Go manages Disney’s Web sites Disney.com, ABC.com, Disneystore.com, Mr. Showbiz, and NBA.com and NFL.com, among others.
Handler will report to Go chairman Steve Bornstein, and work with Michael Johnson, prexy of Walt Disney Intl.
“Mark’s proven track record as a leader, combined with his marketing and technology talents, makes him an ideal choice to lead our growing international businesses,” Bornstein said.
Handler most recently was prexy of Disney TeleVentures, where he developed broadband applications for TV. He has also been senior veep of sales and marketing for the Disney Channel.
Before joining Disney, Handler spent six years with Cox Communications in marketing and general management positions.
