Fandom buys Cinescape

Cyberbiz Brief

Online sci-fi, fantasy and horror venture Fandom.com has acquired bi-monthly entertainment genre mag Cinescape and its affiliated Web ventures in an undisclosed deal.

“Bringing Cinescape into the Fandom network promises to boost our visibility as a media company for the next-generation audience,” said Mark Young, CEO of Fandom. “Fandom’s user base is a powerful demographic of loyal and passionate customers in the largest entertainment category.”

Cinescape’s readership and the 6.5 million monthly visitors to its Web site will help boost traffic to Fandom’s collection of film- and TV-related fan Web sites, as well as its e-commerce venture FandomShop.com.
