Feel like doing Grim Reaper duty for the demise of dot-coms? FuckedCompany.com, the eminently snarky Web site that tracks the failure of Netcos and operates a “dot com deadpool,” was put up for auction on eBay last weekend by its Webmaster. Site founder Philip Kaplan said it had become too overwhelming to run the site alongside his legitimate business. “I was bored this morning, so I thought I’d put FuckedCompany.com up for sale on eBay,” Kaplan e-mailed site’s mailing list. “Bidding starts at $1.” By midafternoon on Monday, bids on the company had reached $10 million. Because the bidder is a student at the Rensselaer Polytechnic Institute in Troy, N.Y., there were some rumblings that eBay may have to weed out false bids. The auction goes on for another week.
