Customizable CD compilation service Musicmaker.com and Death Row Records have reached an exclusive, three-year licensing agreement.
Under the deal, customers of the Musicmaker.com Web site will be able to order tracks from Death Row’s catalog when creating a CD. In addition, Musicmaker gets a first look at future releases from Death Row, according to Larry Lieberman, president of global marketing.
Death Row Record’s Web site now offers users a direct link to Musicmaker.com’s download page, which features songs from artists like Dr. Dre, Ice Cube and Snoop Dogg.
“We chose Musicmaker.com because they are a savvy music company that offers unique alternatives to distribute this important music directly to consumers via the Internet,” said Steven Machat, attorney for Death Row Records.
Reston, Va.-based Musicmaker.com also has agreements with EMI Recorded Music, Columbia House and Zomba Music Group.
