CAA to back yucks online

Modern Humorist set for expansion

Creative Artists Agency has inked to represent media company Modern Humorist, which is looking to expand its satirical comedy content into the entertainment publishing, television, film, video and Web spaces.

The New York-based company this week launched its daily online Webzine ModernHumorist.com.

“We’re happy to be joining the CAA family,” said Michael Colton, the co prexy of Modern Humorist. “We’ve been using their skin-care products since we were children.”

Company is the brainchild of twentysomething co-prexies Michael Colton and John Aboud, former scribes for the Washington Post, Brill’s Content and Wired, as well as Harvard Lampoon alumni.

Contributors to the site include “The Simpsons” producer Mike Reiss, New Yorker writer Andy Borowitz and novelist Mark O’Donnell, as well as writers from “Saturday Night Live,” “The Late Show with David Letterman” and MTV.

Board of directors include “Sixth Sense” producer Frank Marshall, CAA partner and managing director David O’Connor and Eric Rayman, chief legal counsel of the New Yorker and a trustee of the Harvard Lampoon. Comedian Jon Stewart (Comedy Central’s “The Daily Show”) is on the board of advisors.
