Arbitron Co. has tapped David Forr to head encoding operations for its new Portable People Meter, which is being deployed in conjunction with Nielsen Media Research.
As manager of encoding operations, Forr will work with broadcast and cable engineers during the first U.S. field trial of the beeper-sized audience measurement system, taking place this fall in Philadelphia. Encoding of cable network and TV stations’ programming will be necessary for the system’s accurate recording of participants’ watching habits.
“David has extensive experience in television audience measurement and metering technology, including five years with Arbitron’s Meter Operations division,” said Arbitron exec VP and general manager of worldwide new media Marshall Snyder. “This experience makes him the ideal person to lead our PPM system encoding efforts.”
In addition to his previous work at Arbitron, Forr has worked as director of engineering at Statistical Research Inc. and as director of U.S. field operations at AGB Television Research.
