William Morris Agency has hired Brent Smith and Michel Vega as agents in their music department and promoted Dana Sims to agent.
Smith joins WMA after running his own company, Goliath Talent Agency, where he represented Sting, Snoop Dogg, Buzzcocks and Liquid Soul, all of whom will follow him to WMA.
Vega’s primary focus will be the representation of Latin artists, working closely with WMA senior veepee Jorge Pinos.
A former manager of bandleader Mario Bauza, Vega had worked previously at Viva America, a company he formed to serve the Latin market in the U.S. He also had co-founded and served as prexy of the Booking Group, representing the national legit tours of “Bring in ‘Da Noise, Bring in ‘Da Funk,” “Jekyll & Hyde” and “Rent.”
Sims’ promotion reps an expansion of the WMA’s music crossover department, and she will work closely with WMA agent Julie Colbert in securing film and television jobs for music clients.
Prior to joining WMA three years ago, Sims served as a marketing coordinator at world music label Mesa Blue Moon.
