The man who helped make khaki pants cool again is jumping to the WB.
Frog net’s marketing division has recruited Carl Byrd, a key person in the Gap’s inhouse ad agency, to serve as vice president of special projects. He’ll work on major marketing initiatives, including the web’s fall image campaign.
A seven-year Gap vet, Byrd worked on numerous music-themed ad campaigns for the apparel retailer, including the Khakis Swing ads and the holiday ice skating campaign. He most recently was senior design director for the company.
“Over the past few years, with each changing season, Carl’s spots have literally dictated the country’s next style trend — from khakis to black leather jackets,” said Lewis Goldstein, co-prexy of marketing at the WB. “Combining his skills with the network’s roster of talent should make for some very interesting campaigns.”
Marketing co-prexy Bob Bibb said Byrd’s hiring was part of the net’s effort to build “the WB brand past the television screen.”
“Having one of the top creative marketers of the retail fashion world to extend our brand is a great complement to our creative team.”
