Viacom names Brooks CEO of Oz’s Studio City

Hameister to continue managing

SYDNEY — Fred Brooks has been appointed CEO of Studio City, Viacom’s A$500 million ($325 million) entertainment and theme park development in Melbourne, replacing acting chief exec Paul Hameister, who continues as managing director of Viacom Australia.

A 30-year entertainment veteran, Brooks spent 12 years as project development director with Disney, and did stints as VP at Blockbuster Entertainment and Wet n’ Wild Florida. He also played a major role in the development of Viacom’s “Star Trek: The Experience” in Las Vegas.

Other Studio City appointments include Crown Casino finance manager Glen Oliver as chief financial officer, former Paramount Parks exec director Ty Granaroli as creative director, ex-“Star Trek: The Experience” veep Tom Rapone as theme park project manager, former Fox Studios Australia and Warner Roadshow Studios executive Veronica Sive as the studio’s project manager and Graeme Holdworth as project director.

With major executive appointments out of the way, an institutional road show for a delayed $169 million IPO, underwritten by J.B. Were, is expected to get under way next week. A prospectus is expected in February followed by an Australian Stock Exchange listing by March.
