Peacock comedy development exec Shelley McCrory is joining NBC Studios as senior VP.
McCrory, who had been the No. 2 yuks exec at NBC, will now supervise development and programming for the Peacock’s inhouse studio. She reports to NBC Studios president Ted Harbert, who announced the appointment Monday.
“This is a huge coup for NBC Studios,” Harbert said. “As our programming efforts expand, the need for additional senior management at the Studios has become critical.”
McCrory has been with NBC since 1992, joining the web as an assistant in the drama development department. She was upped to manager of primetime series in 1995 and VP of the department in June 1997.
Most recently, McCrory oversaw production of the NBC laffers “Friends” and “NewsRadio.” She helped develop “Providence,” “Freaks and Geeks” and “M.Y.O.B.”
