Universal Pictures has promoted veteran executive Jeffrey Sakson to senior vice president of national publicity.
VP of national publicity since 1997, Sakson will supervise the day-to-day operations of the studio’s publicity staff. Announcement came from Terry Curtin, exec veep of national publicity.
“Since the time I first came to Universal, Jeff has been a tremendous resource to me, and his friendship and support were invaluable in making me feel welcome and part of the team,” said Curtin, who joined the studio a year ago. “Jeff has excellent relationships with our filmmakers and the media, and I am pleased to see him rewarded for all his hard work and dedication to the company over the years.”
Sakson joined Universal in 1984 as a staff assistant in the New York office and moved to Universal City in 1989 as a senior publicist. He was named manager of production publicity in 1991; director, publicity, in 1994; and executive director, publicity, in 1996.
