Karin Timpone has been tapped senior VP, marketing and communications, for Universal TV and Networks Group where she will oversee the marketing strategy for special projects within the company. She will report to Peter Hughes and Steven Jarmus, exec VPs and co-heads of Universal International TV.
Timpone joined the company in 1998 as VP of communications. In that role, she was responsible for communications strategy for free and pay TV sales, international channels and productions. Prior to Universal, she worked for five years within the corporate and beverage divisions of U’s parent company Seagram, including Absolut Vodka marketing, where she spearheaded brand communications in the U.S. and Latin America.
“Combining our marketing and communications leadership under Karin will provide us a unique competitive strength,” Hughes said. “As our global TV business grows, we see many new opportunities to support our current and library filmed entertainment titles, and she will play an instrumental role,” Jarmus added.
