NEW YORK — Former Miramax publicity exec Cynthia Swartz has joined Columbia’s Gotham office as senior veep of publicity.
In more than 10 years at Miramax, Swartz orchestrated publicity campaigns for such pics as “Reservoir Dogs,” “The Piano,” “The Crying Game” and “Shall We Dance.”
Swartz also ran the studio’s Oscar campaigns as senior veep, then executive veep of special projects, reporting to Marcie Granata, publicity and corporate communications prexy, and Mark Gill, prexy of Miramax L.A. The company garnered 122 Oscar noms and 36 wins during Swartz’s tenure.
“Having shepherded some of the most stellar publicity campaigns in recent memory,” said Sony worldwide marketing prexy Bob Levin, “her talents will no doubt be an invaluable asset to our team.”
In her newly created post, reporting to incoming exec veep of publicity Blaise Noto, Swartz will oversee East Coast publicity for all of Columbia’s theatrical releases.
