NEW YORK — Tracey Trench has joined Robert Simonds Prods. as president, creative. The former Fox Family Films exec starts work immediately, supervising development and production for the prolific producer.
“With such a ferocious appetite for comedies presently in the marketplace, we are compelled to bring in someone of Tracey’s stature and abilities to help us meet the demand,” Simonds said in a statement. “I have admired and respected her aggressiveness and her clarity of vision for some time.”
Trench was a Fox Family Films exec from 1994-97 and independently produced with Laura Angelica Simon the docu “Fear and Learning at Hoover University,” about a 1994 ballot issue barring illegal immigrants from California public services. The film won the freedom of expression award at Sundance.

Simonds has wrapped “Head Over Heels,” a comedy with Freddie Prinze Jr. and Monica Potter, and “Screwed,” with Danny DeVito, Norm Macdonald and Dave Chappelle, both for Universal.
Upcoming films include the David Spade starrer “Joe Dirt” at Columbia, the Martin Lawrence starrer “See Spot Run” at Warner Bros., and the Adam Sandler starrer “Little Nicky” for New Line.
